Another Duvernay producer in Alberta was faced with the challenge and opportunity of adding GAPL control and optimization to existing sites with a mix of ROC800 and SCADAPack RTUs. PLC Shift easily integrates with both platforms making it the obvious choice as their go forward standard.

A PLC Shift integrator was under the gun and had one more last minute feature request by their customer. We added a End Purge command to our Well Test app and released a new version in under 2 hours. A personal best for us and a happy customer.

A large Reverity customer has added the Emerson FB3000 to a long and growing list of new and existing RTUs and PLCs that they've integrated with PLC Shift Apps.

A Reverity customer has implemented the PLC Shift Liquid Flow app in a facility with an existing CompactLogix PLC and a Micromotion 5700 Coriolis meter. The Coriolis meter is polled directly by the Liquid Flow app via ModbusRTU. The app is calculating a live inferred water cut from the base densities of oil and water and outputting temperature and pressure corrected net oil and net water.

PLC Shift was selected as very cost effective way to improve the liquid measurement capabilities on site with a simple and tight integration with the existing equipment. No other protocol converters or manual tag mapping was required.

A large producer in the Montney formation in NW Alberta has been piloting the PLC Shift Gas Lift app and its Variable Injection mode on a 4-well pad for the last month.

First results include an improved ease of use for operations as the app determines and controls injection rates automatically and continuously, rather than manually adjusting set points.

Next goals are to optimize the system and quantify long term liquid rate improvements and injection rate reduction with SCADA data and well test results.

Opto 22 released firmware 4.0 for it's Groov EPIC and RIO Linux based PLCs. This is a huge enhancement to the platform. Reverity responded quickly to test and support this firmware update to ensure continuity and access to ongoing improvements for our PLC Shift customers.

The PLC Shift Data Logger app v1.4 now supports inputs AND outputs. This means you can use the Data Logger app to write values to arbitrary tags in the PLC. These outputs can be written to via the PLC Shift Modbus TCP Server or the gRPC interface.

The Data Logger app provides a secure bi-directional data connection to IT/Analyitics systems outside the OT network. Host and client certificates, user credentials and SSO with MS Entra are all supported to ensure that only authorized users can read/write PLC tags.

Tabular data is logged on interval or event and sent to your database for analytics. Supported databases include MS SQL, MS Azure Table Storage and Clickhouse.

A large producer in the Deep Basin formation in NW Alberta has deployed the PLC Shift Plunger Lift app on dozens of wells to generate standardized cycle data which is forwarded to Ambyint to enable real-time optimization of Plunger Lift systems.

Standardized data is critical for AI/ML systems and PLC Shift Plunger Lift app is a perfect solution as it easily integrates with all legacy automation controllers such as SCADAPack, Floboss, Bristol and CompactLogix and more.

A PLC Shift customer was eager to implement the Gas Flow app in a gas plant to replace obsolete flow meters. There was just one problem, the existing ControlLogix PLC was on very old firmware (v20). This era of this firmware does not support the modern 'Large Forward Open' format that allows for larger packets sizes that PLC Shift expects.

Updating PLC firmware wasn't an option in an online gas plant, so Reverity cracked open the PLC Shift EthernetIP driver to add support for the legacy normal forward open format, and got our customer up and running.

PLC Shift works with the PLCs that producers have in the field, new or old.

PLC Shift V2.0 is released. This is a huge release that brings a configurable, automatically generated web-based HMI for all apps. Unique features such as role-based access control and single sign-on with Microsoft Entra (Active Directory) provide simple, scalable and secure access.

This HMI leverages the new secure and bidirectional gRPC interface that can also be used by your own web apps, local or cloud functions, and new setpoints from AI/ML systems. Finally, a simple, safe, and manageable way to connect IT to your PLCs.

The Datalogger app has been enhanced to allow inputs AND outputs. Combined with the web HMI, PLC Shift is now a configurable RTU!

PLC Shift is on display with the new UC20-M4000 in the Weidmüller booth at the ISA Automation Expo and Conference in Edmonton. PLC Shift adds gas/liquid flow measurement and plunger/gas lift control and optimization to this powerful Linux and Codesys based automation controller.

A PLC Shift user in the Deep Basin formation in Northwestern Alberta has increased the number of PLC Shift installations to support an upcoming AI/ML pilot project. This expansion increases PLC Shift deployment to over 100 wells with existing legacy RTUs like SCADAPack, Bristol, and FloBoss.

PLC Shift V1.66 is released with support for the new Weidmüller M3000 and M4000 Linux-based PLCs with Codesys. These devices are Class 1 Div 2 with a -40 to 70°C temperature spec and a broad range of expandable, high-density I/O. More details of the PLC Shift integration in our Quick Start Guide

PLC Shift V1.65 brings a significant new feature: an integrated ModbusTCP Server. This allows for direct polling of app tags via ModbusTCP from SCADA and HMIs. As a result, there can be more apps per PLC, and integration with SCADA becomes easier and more scalable, particularly for non-Modbus native PLCs like Codesys and Compact/ControlLogix. A Reverity client in Oklahoma is setting up a standardized, cost-efficient PLC Shift solution that incorporates Gas Flow and Plunger Lift applications utilizing a Moxa industrial computer and IDEC PLC and HMI. This approach merges proven equipment and expertise with new technology to simplify deployment and maintenance.

PLC Shift V1.59 has been launched, featuring customizable history retention for Gas and Liquid Flow. This allows users to set the number of days that minute, hourly, daily, events, alarms, and configuration logs are stored on disk. For devices with limited storage, the retention limits can be decreased, while for devices with ample storage, they can be extended up to one year!

The PLC Shift Well Test Solution was deployed on an eight-well pad in the Montney play in Western Canada. The PLC Shift Gas, Liquid, and Water flow computer applications were installed on an existing SCADAPack 474i. The logic within the SCADAPack seamlessly integrated with the PLC Shift applications to enable automated well testing with valve switching. This producer also uses the PLC Shift Plunger Lift application on new wells in the Deep Basin on SCADAPack 474i RTUs.

PLC Shift V1.55 is released. This improves performance and reliability with the SP47xi tag API. Release notes here. SP47xi users should update to this version if any tag values are not updating correctly.

PLC Shift Plunger Lift apps were commissioned on a four well pad in the Duvernay in Alberta. These apps are providing Plunger Lift control and optimization on an existing well that needs Plunger lift to prevent liquid loading. A new SCADAPack 474i was used to run the four Plunger Lift apps and interface with existing site equipment. The producer plans to add four Gas Lift apps to this same device at a later date.

Reverity is presenting at the Ignition Oil and Gas Collective. This is a fantastic user group of Oil and Gas producers, Ignition system integrators and complimentary solution providers.

PLC Shift Liquid Flow app was selected to improve measurement accuracy and auditability on 10 salt water disposal wells in the Permian Basin. Previously a running accumulator was used to collect water injection volumes, but provided no auditability of the records in event of questionable values. PLC Shift Liquid Flow provides an API Compliant minute, hourly, daily and batch records with alarm and event logs. The producer plans to send this record based data directly to a new Ignition SCADA system via MQTT SparkplugB. The PLC Shift apps were installed on existing Opto 22 Linux based PLCs and Codesys IEC61131 PLC software.

A large producer in the Deep Basin region of Western Alberta has selected PLC Shift Plunger Lift apps as their go forward standardized Plunger Lift controller with over 10 sites commissioned and counting. The PLC Shift apps are deployed on Xetawave Xetaedge industrial Linux computers with Codesys Soft PLC software and easily installed in existing RTU cabinets. This solution integrates with existing Floboss 1200, Floboss 103, and Bristol ControlWave RTUs. This low cost solution offers a consistent SCADA and workflow experience for operations, regardless of the existing flow computer/RTU on site.

PLC Shift Plunger Lift apps were commissioned on two multi well pads in the Willisden Green area of Alberta. These apps were deployed on Moxa 8210 industrial Linux computers and installed inside the existing CompactLogix L33ER PLC cabinet. The PLC Shift - CompactLogix integration was completed ahead of time and added to the site PLCs without production downtime.
